Fortitude
Turn flesh to iron, making the vampire a fortress against the world's violence.
Fortitude is a Discipline of the Clan Ventrue and the Gangrel, representing an unnatural hardening of the flesh that renders the Kindred nearly impervious to physical harm. It allows vampires to withstand blows that would shatter stone or tear through steel, effectively turning their bodies into living armor against mundane weapons and even some supernatural assaults.

Lore & Background
For the Gangrel, Fortitude takes on a more primal aspect, reflecting their connection to the beast within. It is not merely armor but a manifestation of their feral resilience, allowing them to survive in the harshest environments and fight with a disregard for self-preservation that baffles other clans. The power is often described as a psychic hardening of the body, where the vampire's will overrides the physical laws of injury, making them difficult to kill by conventional means.
In Their Own Story
The rain hammered against the cobblestones of the alleyway, mixing with the blood pooling around Elias's feet. Three armed men, hired by a rival prince, stepped forward, their rifles raised. The first shot cracked like thunder, tearing through Elias's shoulder; he didn't even flinch. A second round struck his chest, spinning him slightly but failing to pierce skin that had turned as hard as granite. He looked at the trembling gunman with cold eyes, his flesh glowing faintly under the streetlamp, and whispered, 'Is that all you have?' before stepping forward into the hail of bullets.
Reader's Guide
Fortitude is a defensive Discipline focused on reducing damage taken by the vampire. At its lowest levels, it allows the Kindred to shrug off minor injuries like cuts or bruises, effectively ignoring mundane attacks that would incapacitate a human. As the power increases, the user gains resistance against more severe trauma, including bullets and blunt force. A vampire with high Fortitude can walk through gunfire unscathed, their skin becoming impervious to piercing weapons. The cost is one blood point per turn of active use in some interpretations, though often it is a passive state once activated. Advanced levels allow the Kindred to resist supernatural damage and even environmental hazards like fire or acid. Notable users include many Ventrue elders who rely on this power to maintain their authority through sheer durability, as well as Gangrel brutes who use it to survive pack hunts.
