Vicissitude

The art of sculpting living flesh and bone into weapons, armor, or monstrosities.

Vicissitude is the Discipline of flesh-shaping and bone-molding, granting its wielder dominion over their own physical form and that of others. Often associated with the Anarch movement or the Sabbat's more radical sects, this power allows a vampire to alter anatomy in grotesque or beautiful ways, turning skin into armor, bones into weapons, or flesh into fluid. It represents the ultimate rejection of the Masquerade for some, as its effects are visceral and impossible to hide from mortal eyes.

Lore & Background

While Gangrel use Vicissitude for hunting and adaptation, the Sabbat has historically embraced it more aggressively, viewing the alteration of flesh as a path to spiritual evolution or a tool of terror. In the hands of the Sabbat, it can be used to create horrific mutations that serve as warnings to rivals or tools of torture. The power challenges the very concept of human identity, forcing users to grapple with the horror of their own malleability and the potential loss of self in the pursuit of physical perfection.

In Their Own Story

The alley reeked of wet garbage and fear. Elias didn't run; he simply watched his arms lengthen, bones snapping and reforming with a sickening crunch that echoed off the brick walls. His fingers elongated into jagged talons, while his skin hardened into a rough, bark-like texture. He wasn't just changing shape; he was becoming something else entirely—a predator made of shifting nightmare. The mortal screamed, but Elias had already become the shadow in the corner, a creature of pure instinct and fluid flesh.

Reader's Guide

The power to reshape flesh is divided into several distinct abilities. At its lowest level, it allows for minor cosmetic changes like altering facial features or growing claws, costing one blood point. As the user advances, they can knit wounds instantly or thicken skin to act as natural armor against physical attacks. Higher levels grant terrifying control over others' bodies, allowing a vampire to force a victim's flesh to contort into painful shapes or even liquefy their internal organs. This requires sustained concentration and significant blood expenditure. The most advanced users can reconstruct entire limbs or alter their skeletal structure to fit through narrow spaces. Famous practitioners include the Gangrel elders who use it for survival, and Sabbat ravnos who twist flesh into grotesque art forms. It is a Discipline of both utility and horror, demanding respect from all who witness its effects.
